Thanks to Louise Standring for the report

Crostyx L3s were away to Havering 4 hoping to extend their winning start to the season to 4 matches out of 4.

Gracie Lawson, normally a midfielder, had unselfishly agreed to step into a borrowed goalie kit and a large squad of 14 included 3 under 14s making their debuts. The match seemed to start without Styx, conceding 2 shorts and a long corner within 3 minutes of pushback.
However Havering failed to capitalise on our lack of focus and we gradually got more into our game, although passing errors frequently allowed the opposition to regain possession. The highlight of the half was a moment of individual skill from May Martindale who skipped past a couple of defenders and buried the ball into the far corner from just inside the D.

After half time, Styx came back with more focus and determination and began to dominate possession. Caroline Hubbard was particularly vocal and on top of her game moving from defence to attack regularly. A great run and accurate cross from the right by Rosa Corcoran Jones split the defence, with debutant Jaya Agarwal perfectly timing her run to the penalty spot to slot it past the keeper. Havering only kept Gracie busy a couple of times, ably supported by the efficient defensive line.
Result 2:0 to Crostyx.

MoM: Caroline Hubbard
Goals: May Martindale and Jaya Agarwal.

Next week L3s have their toughest test so far against top of the table Wapping.
