Thanks to Louise Standring for the report

This week L3's were away to Wapping 6s at Lee Valley, pitting ourselves against the league leaders who had scored an average of 8 goals per game already this season. We had a strong squad and hoped that we would be able to hold off their attack whilst maybe getting some goals of our own.

It wasn't to be however as we came up against a very strong, mobile side who had us pinned back in our own half for much of the match. The defence, aided by the midfield, were solid at the back and, when breached,Temi produced some excellent saves. Styx earned a short corner during a rare foray up the other end, which resulted in a penalty flick to us. Unfortunately the flick rebounded off the post and having been stung into increased endeavour, Wapping finally managed a scrappy goal. Going into half time 1:0 down, we knew we were up against it.

The rain that had started as a drizzle at the beginning of the match, turned into a relentless downpour in the second half and Wapping kept on coming. In spite of the resilient and gutsy performance of every Styx player in an increasingly physical match, Wapping went on to score two more classy goals.

Everybody put in a superb effort and we can be proud of our performance against a very strong side. Special mention to all the defenders who dominated the MoM votes, but the clear winner was Temi for keeping the scoreline respectable.
Wapping 3, Crostyx 0.

Next week, back to winning ways for sure!
