Many thanks to Captain Nick Gillett for the post match analysis

Welcoming Freddie Britt to the Purple performance squad that the 2XI is fast becoming, the purple train pulled into Mile End for a painfully early 10am push back against East London. A couple of late withdrawals due to illness meant the club favourites were in for a long hard morning against a fit and physical east London side.

Styx started well and continued to show improvement as they retained the ball better and switched play across the pitch with the younger players demonstrating all the skills in the world as they tormented the East London defence. It was a purple mistake that led to an East London goal as midfield needlessly gave the ball away. At this point it would have been easy for the purples to hide and let the game go away from them but they are nothing if not determined and a brace from stalwart Jolly and some magic from Britt saw a 3-1 lead at halftime.

The second half was totally predictable as East
London made every challenge more physical and the men in purple tired. It was another mistake which let East London in and a short corner resulted which was well finished. Hanging on a number of half chances came the purple way but another goal eluded them. For all the world it looked like the Styx would be a slim victor and with a minute left had the opportunity to see out the clock but poor decisions and a poor pass followed by a poor challenge resulted in a short corner as the final whistle went. To compound matters Tilley broke early and a defender was dispatched to the halfway line. East London scrambled it across the line and the game was drawn 3-3.

A devastated Crostyx side showed many promising moments and surely if they keep up this level of performance and commitment better results must be around the corner
