Many Thanks to Rob 'EuroHockey' Harrison for the write up

First games of the season are always a hard place to gauge your side on, but I think there is a group of boys in the U14 that have tremendous ability, combined with a willingness to put in effort to improve, not just individually but also as a team.

Goals were literally flying in from all over the pitch; Freddie Britt had to be substituted after a 10 minute hat-trick. There were goals for plenty of players, but it wasn’t the score line that was impressive. The ability of the players to move the ball quickly and the unselfishness to find a team-mate meant the time after the time players were tapping the ball in at the back post.

Everybody had the chance to play different positions, and as a result plenty of players found their name on the score sheet. It was 8-0 at half-time, and finished 21-0.

There will be much harder games, and the boys will be well aware of this, but the way they continued to move the ball around was very impressive and this group could go far together if their attitude remains right.

Thanks to Alfie Tedder for assisting me on the bench, and to all the travelling parents, we put on a show for them
