Many thanks to Jess Lennard for the report

On Saturday 24th, Crostyx Ladies 2's managed to hold a strong Basildon side to a 0-0 draw at full time. It was a hard fought 70 minutes of superb hockey, that started out with a demand on our defence to be quick on their feet, as Basildon forced their way towards goal. Strong tackles from Juliet Drake and Lisa Dixon denied many early opportunities that Basildon created. Crostyx originally struggled to counter the attacks, but some nifty transfers round the back meant we could push up and create trouble going forward. Midfielders Lucy Leel, Katie Maxwell and Chantal Pampellonne did a great job picking up passes and running them up the wings to make some good chances on goal, with Lizzie Matson keeping her cool and controlling various crazy balls that were frequently off the ground! Unfortunately we couldn't capitalise on these chances but the girls continued to track back and help keep the score level till the half time whistle.

Refreshed and ready to get back on for the second half, the ladies started with great strength and good communication, with Lou Poulter and Liberty Morrell working hard at the top to produce various shots on goal with a couple of short corners, unfortunately none of which were able to find the back board. Refusing to be defeated as time ticked on, the ladies showed resilience in their defending and skill and persistence in the mid and up front.

The final score was Crostyx 0-0 Basildon. This score reflects grit and hard running from the girls, who showed lots of determination to keep Basildon at bay whilst creating good chances on goal. Player of the match went to Lisa Dixon, for her impressive composure and ruthless defending at the back, also commanding her defence well, helped by Emma Thorne who had a great game in goal.
