Thanks to Captain Nick Gillett for his thoughts

Crostyx totally dominated the first half carving out chance after chance but a combination of good goalkeeping, last ditch defending and squandered opportunities meant that the purple train pulled into the Halfway point all square at nil all.

The second half Brentwood got into the game a little more but were turned into observing statues when Styx moved the ball at pace. Jolly finally found the net to put the purple side ahead but Brentwood scored an ugly equaliser and then they pushed as a couple of injuries hampered Crostyx. Take nothing away from Brentwood - they worked hard and they have youngsters with real potential but it was a Crostyx defensive error which gave them their second goal again, not the prettiest and ultimately gifted them the points.

Ignoring the result the ability on show from the Crostyx youngsters was the best so far this season, the play the best so far, the number of chances vast and thus unjust we didn't win. Short corners require more work and a goal or two in the first half would have seen a one sided score line in our favour. Watching Nick duck roll back the years and link with youngsters 20 odd years his junior was a highlight.

We were better than them, we played well in large parts, we should have won, we didn't. Thats Hockey.

Congratulations to Brentwood.
