Thanks to Dave Matson for the report

Before the match started, I thought that our young team (plus the coach and an umpire) would struggle against the team of adults from Southend. But the boys did their coaches proud, passing the ball quickly to get in to the circle where Matt Willoughby proved to all and sundry that he is no longer a centre back. Goal followed goal and by half time we were 4 – 0 up and Willoughby was on his way to a hat – trick and beyond. Honourable mentions due to Jed Martindale for his 2 goals and to Hasan, who did a good impression of becoming the next Freddie Britt. Even a missed penalty flick in the second half could not stop Crostyx progressing to an impressive 6 goals. Lest any one think that the match was one sided, the man of the match award was given to Max who played at centre back and shut out a centre forward who was 1 ½ times his size. Barney also had to work hard to keep a clean sheet and made it a very impressive 11 – 1 combined score for the Men’s 3xi & 4xi on Saturday. However no match report would be complete without highlighting the 4 goals scored by Matt Willoughby – when was the last time Crostyx had a 4 goal hero!

This is a team that we need to keep going for the rest of the season.
