We had a successful summer league season with 2 ladies and 3 men’s teams competing. Thank you to all the captains who organised the matches and umpires who officiated the games. One highlight was Scott’s team won his league!!

The juniors also had some performance training sessions which was a great success. Thank you to Katie and all the coaches.

Anna Trettt got a mixed team together for a fun weekend of mixed hockey at Old Loughts.

Training
Training for the adults is already under way.
Men’s performance on a Tuesday has started whilst the Ladies starts on 25 August, both at Lee Valley.

Men’s club sessions on Wednesdays at Ashton have also started for the men’s 3s and 4s at Ashton.

Ladies 3s Wednesday training will start at Ashton on 2 September

Club Day
On 29 August we will have our club day where juniors and adults will play internal hockey games and there will be 1s fixtures.

We are on a recruitment drive to bring in new players and hopefully the club day will help but please let friends and family know about Crostyx. There will be a discount at the beginning of the season for new players.

Matches
The Essex leagues start on 12 September for Men’s 3s and 4s and the Ladies teams. The Men’s 1s and 2s competing in the London leagues start on 19 September.

Socials
We can’t wait for matches to start so we can enjoy post match drinks and teas at the Wells.
We are planning on a start of season darts night currently the date will be 19 September to be confirmed

Donna Blockley is again coordinating our flourishing junior section and the training will start on 5 September at Ashton. From our minis upwards the juniors will enjoy weekly training, matches and tournaments.

Training fees for juniors and match fees for junior and adults will remain unchanged.

Tia has kindly taken over as secretary from Lisa and Praise is doing a great job on the socials posting updates on Instagram.

Umpiring update
If anyone wants to help umpire junior or adult matches please let your captain know. It’s great for DoE, pays £15 and is a key role in the club!

Over the last few weeks we were devastated at the sudden passing of Michael Fisher, a Crostyx legend who had played for the club for 40 years. Fish had captained the Men’s 2s, 3s and 4s. Fish was a very kind and generous guy who will be sorely missed by all on the pitch and in the bar.

Be more Fish this season - be competitive whilst playing with a smile on the pitch, volunteer off it and wear your purple heart on your sleeve.
