Thanks to Rob Harrison for another journalistic masterpiece

Crostyx U14 boys came up against their toughest test so far this season, and will ultimately feel disappointed with the result of the match. Having led 1-0 at half time with a deflection from James Preston, following a good layoff in the circle from Charlie Britt who found Tom Dryland at the top of the circle, he was pin-point in picking out Preston who had positioned himself intelligently in front of the keeper.

The game went back and forth in the 2nd half, and Crostyx were found out for lack of defensive awareness and were punished for diving into tackles and got caught flat footed far too often as Blueharts countered Crostyx’s possession high up the field. Blueharts found themselves leading 3-1 before good work down the Crostyx right meant that the ball was pulled across for Barney Tedder to score to bring the Purple train back into the match. Yes that is correct the goalkeeper was showing the rest of the team how to put the ball into the net!!!
Blueharts eventually restored their 2 goal cushion, but Crostyx didn’t give up and created enough chances to get back into the game but time was against time with Blueharts taking the game 4-2..

Missing several key players to the team due to half-term there was plenty to be positive from the match, and sometimes, as the boys will learn, you learn more in defeat that you do in victory.
