Men's 1st Team triumphant in local derby

The Men's 1s took on local rivals East London and off the back of a great win last week, Crostyx aimed to win another three points from their local rivals.

Crostyx started quickly winning a short corner in the opening 10 minutes, with the injection going to the first castle, Alfie Tedder was able to produce one of his powerful flicks which soared towards the bottom right hand of the goal where it found the defenders foot on the line. A flick was awarded and Jake Burke stepped up and slotted it nicely into the bottom left hand corner of the goal, despite the home side's goalkeeper best efforts to save.

The visitors kept battling against a well drilled East London team, keeping them out of their D and leaving goalkeeper Liam Dolden begging for a piece of the action.

The battle between the two teams continued, with a mentionable performance from our youngest member of the team Nick Richardson who won this weeks MOM award.

As half time beckoned, Crostyx wanted to try and extend their lead whilst keeping a clean sheet and that is exactly what they were able to do, with a ball firing into the D which pin balled around until it fell to Hugo who slotted the ball past the keeper

Shortly after, the half time whistle sounded and both sides regrouped in their respective halves. The team in purple with their heads held high and 2-0 up.

The second half commenced and it was a similar story to the first half, with Crostyx piling on the pressure, but Crostyx were unable to extend their lead with very little threat on their own goal. With about 15 minutes to go, another short corner was won which went straight to the first castle where centre back, Alfie was able to sling the ball towards the inside left netting where the postman waited but unfortunately wore the shot on his wrist preventing a certain goal, which saw another flick was awarded. Up stepped Vice Captain Christain Hall due to the previous flick tacker Jake being off with a slight groin niggle. Although much like his predecessor, he slotted the ball nicely into the bottom right of the goal, to make the Crostyx 3 goals to the good.

East London kept fighting throughout the second half and the boys in purple started to show some frustration due to their continued pressure not resulting in more goals. Young and talented hothead Izzy Duck was awarded a green card despite having won a free-hit just outside the opposition D - perhaps he wasn't over thrilled with the decision.

Once back at full power, Crostyx responded very well and took play back to East London with Izzy Duck using his silky skills going past multiple East London defenders and passing the ball to James Preston who was running to the back post but couldn't get enough on it to sneak it inside the far post.

A convincing 3-0 win for the away team as Crosytx saw out the game in total control, starving East London of any real possession of the ball.

Next weeks game is at 16:00 @ Lee Valley vs London Wayfarers Vikings
