Crostyx emerged victorious in their first game of a double header against West Hampstead M2, securing a 3-1 win with a dominant display and continuing their strong second half to the season.
The match kicked off with Crostyx showing intent from the outset, and it didn't take long for them to make their mark on the scoreboard. Christian Hall was the star of the first half, netting two quick goals to put Crosytx in the driver's seat. Christian’s first goal left the opponent bamboozled with multiple dummies and changes of directions before finally slotting a reverse into the bottom corner, the second goal was even better, executing a remarkable backfoot strike that left the opposition goalkeeper with no chance - the quick succession of goals injected confidence into the Crostyx side, setting the tone for an impressive first-half performance.
As the second half unfolded, Crostyx's captain, Aaron Philips, further extended the lead. The goal came in spectacular fashion after Izzy Duck's dazzling run saw him take on and beat two West Hampstead players - Duck was cynically brought down by the opposition goalkeeper, earning Crostyx a penalty – with star flicker Jake Burke on the side-line, up stepped Philips demonstrating composure and finesse. A fine flick sent the ball soaring towards the top corner, clipping the crossbar on its way in.
Despite West Hampstead M2 managing to pull one back, Crostyx maintained their composure, ensuring that the lead remained intact until the final whistle. The solid defensive performance and cohesive teamwork were crucial in securing the three points. The victory set the stage for Crostyx' next challenge in their second match of the weekend away to Chiswick which resulted in an even more comfortable 5-0 for the away side. Goals from Max Wadsworth (x2), Christian Hall, Captain Aaron Phillips and Jake Ling.
Crostyx hit the road again next week as they face Hampstead and Westminister 4s.
