Crostyx ladies 1s arrived fit and ready in sunny Colchester last Saturday, with just one ham sandwich down, they were ready to remain unbeaten.

Crostyx started off the first half with a bang, with a breakaway at the back by Ellie P. She passed it to Caroline who darted through the middle of the pitch, outpacing everyone. As Caz drove into the empty D she was accompanied by Lou, at the perfect position by the post. Caz passed it to Lou who chipped it in - a super team goal!

Great defence at the back, despite Donna being struck in the head with a ball, deflected off if team mate Heidi’s stick. Donna gracefully left the pitch but in no time was eager to return and reconquer. An unfortunate turnover in our 25 led Colchester to a quick breakthrough and a goal. A fiery atmosphere developed , as some interesting decisions were made.

Soon enough a second goal was scored by the visitors after Daffy intercepted a transfer, weaving through Colchester’s defence and took a strike, which nestled in the left-hand corner. Great end to the first half and another great goal.

We go into the second half, and an incredibly unlucky green card was issued to Lara after an excellent sweeping tackle. Although this was unfortunate, she remained calm and collective when she returned (after a very long 2 minutes). Shout-out to Oli for some incredible saves- although almost being sent off this can be forgiven by her amazing saves- a true hero. Our defensive short corners were effective, as they had 6 attempts but nothing could get past us. We maintained the ball well in the second half, despite increasing pressure from Colchester. Amazing defence and tactics in the last few minutes, especially from Freya and Anna.

Overall a great match, well done to all! The ladies 1s leading by example go into the half term break unbeaten
