In a thrilling hockey encounter, Crostyx asserted their dominance over Chelmsford with a resounding 4-0 victory. The match was filled with spectacular link-up play and strategic manoeuvres, showcased Crostyx's prowess, and left the visiting team struggling to keep up, despite a couple of questionable umpiring decisions.

Crostyx, started the game with high intensity, immediately putting pressure on Chelmsford's defense. The first goal came early in the opening minutes when Smithy found the back of the net. The crowd erupted in cheers as Crostyx took an early lead.

Building on from the new formation introduced last week, this was introduced a couple of times throughout the match to ensure that Chelmsford could not read the formation that Crostyx was doing.

Throughout the match, there were great transfers between the defence, and the team’s fitness skills helped with their dominant possession, their relentless offensive plays due to the forwards’ runs into space resulted in another goal, this time from Lou Poulter. This left Chelmsford with an uphill battle in the second half. Towards the end of the half, Chelmsford tried a couple of runs down the side, and sadly Freya received a green card for a challenge. Crostyx therefore ended and started the second half with 10 men but moved to a half-court press to suppress a chance of a Chelmsford attack (despite Wobbles running in the wrong direction when she was subbed onto the pitch).

In the second half, Chelmsford had a few chances on goal, however, the defence was strong with their tackles, and Oli with some important saves to stop any clinical chances from the opponent.

During the second half, there was lots of linking-up play between the midfield and forwards, as well as long passes wide and down the line from the half-backs for the forwards to control to drive into the D. Despite two more green cards for Crostyx for Lou and Heidi, in the second half, Crostyx created a few more chances and were able to hold off from Chelmsford getting back into the match.

For the third goal, Crostyx’s build-up play began by winning the ball back in the middle of their half, with a run from Heidi through the middle and Wobbles passing the ball into the D led to Smithy’s second goal, which was a clinical finish and hit in the bottom left-hand corner of the goal, taking advantage of the advantage Crostyx had from a Chelsmford foot in the D. This took the score to 3-0 to Crostyx.

In the last few minutes of the match, Croystx won a penalty shorter, where Caroline took advantage by putting the ball onto a foot to win another one. For the second penalty corner, Lou Poulter hit from the top of the D and was expertly struck in the bottom corner, to put the match to bed.

Overall, it was a dominant display from Crostyx and the link-up play between all players going up the pitch showed some beautiful yet clinical performance. The result and play were only made better with a clean sheet and to continue their unbeaten start to the season and remain 3rd in the league.
