After a 2-0 win at the start of the season, Crostyx welcomed Havering in the return fixture. A narrow defeat the week before gave the team some real fire for our comeback.
The 1st half started strong with a few attacking chances and a short corner. With Havering becoming increasing frustrated, Donna found herself in a great position on the left post, able to smash the ball over the line giving the home side a 1-0 lead. Crostyx defence looked like a brick wall, with our centre backs Vicks and Anna holding the fort. With another shot from Dons missing the far post, Smithy saved the day by giving the ball a cuddle before finishing it into the goal.
A 2-0 lead at half term gave the team a lot of positives to chat about. Going back on the pitch the home side were told to take their chances early on. Havering tried to lower the tone of the game by giving us some jip. Nevertheless, the Crostyx ladies rose above this and kept their heads. Daffy with some great runs gave the team some more opportunities to attack. Nat running rings in the D, putting the ball firmly on a happy Havering player's foot meant Crostyx had a chance. A short corner hit just wide by Poults meant the score stayed at 2-0. Ellie P staying strong in the middle, showing that even an outrageous foul on herself won’t shake her up. A great run from Smithy resulted in a swift Crostyx counter attached. Smithy found Poults on the left post who managed to finish with ease.
A great game for Crostyx ladies 1’s. Showing utter professionalism and composure resulted in a 3-0 win and 3 points. Shout out to Daffy for her great runs giving her POM.
