The under 12 boys got the season off to a great start on a brand new pitch at Old Loughtonians, sweeping aside opposition from across Essex and beyond with 3 consecutive victories.
After a goalless and lacklustre first half against Hertford, coach Scott moved Rico up front and the team didn't look back, Sam opening the scoring with a great run before Rico added the second for our first win against the feared red machine.
Against Bishop Stortford, it took some great goalkeeping from Milo to keep the scores level before Peyton and Kai combined to set up Rico for the first and then Sam provided an assist for Rico to score again. Strong defence from new signing Robert and tireless pressing from Jack ensured that we saw out a 2-1 win.
Then in the final game against Old Loughtonians, Rico scored again following a pass from Rowan and then a great team goal saw Sam set up Rico for yet another goal. Only a desperate early full time whistle from the opposing coach prevented Sam from adding a third.
A great start to the season and some outstanding team spirit shown by all the boys - thanks to Scott for coaching despite a nasty leg injury, and to all the parents who came to support in the frigid drizzle.
