It was another rain-soaked afternoon for the U12 boys who lit up East Hertfordshire with some outstanding hockey, finishing with 2 wins, 2 draws and some excellent goals.
It was a strong start against Saffron Walden with Sam driving down the right to set up Rico for the opening goal, before conceding an unfortunate equaliser. Milo made a crucial near post save to keep the scores level before Sam scored an excellent solo goal to seal a 2-1 win.
Against Bishops Stortford, it was another good start with Rico going close before Seb opened the scoring following a scramble in the box and a lengthy VAR review. Despite some more great goalkeeping from Milo, the team conceded a last second equaliser and the game finished 1-1.
Chelmsford proved a tough test but the boys took the lead again with Rico setting up Payton for a neat finish. Another equaliser followed and it was only thanks to strong defending from Robert and Miles that the team saw out another 1-1 draw.
The finale against Old Loughtonians was an excellent display with slick passing and dominant tackling enabling the goals to fly in. Rico set up Payton for the opener before adding a diving second from an assist by Sam. An outrageous third followed from Rico with a reversed finish from the edge of the D. Then Jack pounced on a loose ball to score his first goal for the team and put the seal on an excellent win.
Special thanks to Scott for his support, to Robert for playing through a nasty cold, and to Milo for another great display in goal.
