Table topping Crostyx Men's 2XI travelled the short distance to Wapping for a crucial clash in the race for promotion.
Wapping had the better of the initial skirmishes but Crostyx weathered the storm and then put the home side under pressure. Better finishing would have seen the visitors take a lead and when a penalty corner routine went astray Wapping capitalised and broke away running the length of the pitch to take a lead. Crostyx tried to impose some composure on the game but were hassled and harried by a hard working Wapping side and when the Crostyx defence were caught in possession Wapping took a two goal lead into half time.
The second half was very even and Crostyx clawed their way back into the game when a greatly solo run by Dickenson was calmly converted by Akbar. The young Crostyx side continued to push and probably had the majority of the game with Wapping using their experience to break down the game and frustrate the visitors closing out a narrow victory and narrowing the gap to the promotion slots.
Results elsewhere went the men in purples way and they remain top by goal difference with 4 games to play.
