

In the much anticipated top of the table clash Crostyx hosted Saffron Walden at the Olympic park. Fielding the two youngest sides in the league, a victory would go a long way to securing promotion. Smarting from their loss at Saffron Walden the hosts had a determined air against them.
As the game started it was the visitors who showed all the skill and ability and pushed the hosts deep into their own half where they conceded numerous short corners. Only some reflex saves from the outstanding Barney Tedder kept Crostyx from going behind but Saffron Walden were then on he defensive as the hosts started to play and exert pressure of their own. As Crostyx started to deploy their own talent the visitors resorted to illegal tackles and when a cross from a short corner was brilliantly diverted by Tim Jolly the men in purple took the lead .
Buoyed by the goal Crostyx had the better of the game and managed to close out a tense first half. Great work between the Marshall brothers lit up the second half and it was Harry who slotted in from an acute angle to double the lead. The ret of the game was blighted by numerous infringements by both teams resulting in a number of players visiting the sin bin and consequently a broken game emerged.
With Crostyx trying to close out the game Saffron Walden scrambled a goal with a deft finish and this Made for a tense final five minutes. The hosts used all their experience to take a narrow victory and all but secure their back to back promotion. In truth the league above would be richer for both these sides gaining promotion.
